Advice on auditioning for a "Midsummer's Night Dream" w/ Phebe's monologue from "As you Like It"?
phebe is has feelings for this guy and she seems scared to admit it so she debates it to herself. phebe seems like she envys the guy but at the same time yearns for his love. if your acting it ou you should at like you just found love like romeo does when he comes to juliets balcony but since phebes talking to herself you should look down at one side for example lokk at the floor towards the left when your debating the negatives of the guy and put a sad expression on then when you talk about what you like anout him stare straight towards the right of you with a glisten in your eyes and a slight smile on your face and while your doing all this keep you hand clenched into a fist at you heart. when your speaking the role say the positves that phebe lists about the guy in a voice like romeo uses to juliet reaching which in this case try to make your voice seem like its reaching towards your love and your pouring your heart into them and when you say the negatves let your voice die down a little but loud enough for the audience to hear and let it sound sort of unsure in a kind of confused depressed way. hope i helped amd good luck
