Why make a big deal of a 4.4 quake in California?

3/16/10 LA had only a 4.4 quake. There was a lot bigger seismic activity elsewhere. Why do you suppose the news made such a big deal? It is so little. Is someone afraid of the big one and it is a warning?Seismic activity has been on the increase. Did the movie 2012 get any ones' attention?
