How to get hair stylist to stop cutting my hair so much?

I love everything about my stylist except that she gets carried away and next thing I know my hair is layered to the roots and inches shorter than what I think is attractive on me. I have fine, thin hair which grows slowly in places, so when she does this it really makes an impact on me. Right now I have seriously layered, razored hair, and I hate it. She usually does a good job, but if I don't give her a lecture every time I sit down in her chair before she starts trimming (Remember, Rosie! There is no song out there singing the glories about short hair! It is all "Pony tail, hangin' down!"), I wind up scraggly. I don't want a new stylist, I want my current stylist to stop cutting my hair so much.
