Why are Americans allowed to harm home intruders?

you cant not shoot to kill . you are still reliable for your actions and have to be held responsible for your actions.As a homeowner if you kill some intruder on your property you still will face laws that pertain to your actions and situation ,just like everyone else! Now! The outcome of the case is determined by your piers(Jury) if you have one. Every case ends up differently.
